Rotherham Minster in All Saints Square dates back to the 15th century and includes parts of even older Norman and Saxon buildings. On the outskirts of the City, a brick glass-making furnace is the oldest surviving structure of its type in Europe. The remains of the 16th century College of Jesus building survive in the town centre, a Grade II listed building, the oldest surviving brick structure in South Yorkshire.

A little background on Barnsley:

The new Barnsley Interchange at Barnsley Town Centre is one of the most prominent developments in the area. The Town Hall is sculpted in Portland Stone and resembles the Irish Parliament building. Just north of Barnsley, the Cannon Hall Museum building stands on a site that has been inhabited since before 1086. Its current form is attributable to 18th Century architect John Carr.
